Durham Region Art & Essay Contest 2014 Awards Ceremony was held on May 21st, 2014 at Ajax Convention Centre. PCeremony started with a reception accompanied by a live accordion concert and the exhibition of finalist posters and essays. Martyn Beckett, director of education at DDSB introduced Mike Ewles, Chief of Durham Police, as the host of the event. Welcome speeches were made by M. Fatih Yegul, Executive VP of IDI GTA; Joe Allin, Chair of DDSB; and Chris Leahy, Chair of DCDSB. Dr. Faisal Moola from David Suzuki Foundation offered an intriguing keynote address. After everyone enjoyed a great dinner with fish menu and Noah’s Pudding as the dessert, the moment came for the awards ceremony. Top three place winners won great prizes, but no one went home empty-handed, all finalists were given gifts. We especially thank our sponsors Durham College, University of Ontario Institute of Technology, David Suzuki Foundation, and Community Development Council Durham.
