Recognizing the outstanding service of Toronto Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services in maintaining public safety in the city of Toronto.

IDI Toronto held its first ever Public Heroes Award Ceremony on May 26th, 2011 at the Turkish Cultural Center. A distinguished group of representatives from Toronto Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services including Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs were among the attendees. Awards were presented to recipients from Police, Fire and Emergency Medical services who were selected based on three criteria: “Altruism”, “Dedication” and “Contribution to Multiculturalism”.

“Public Heroes Award Ceremony” is organized to recognize the outstanding service of Toronto Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services in maintaining public safety in the city of Toronto. The aim of the ceremony and the award is to recognize dedication and excellence of individual members of TPS, TFS and TEMS in delivering their services in an ethnically and culturally diverse environment.

We congratulate Lance Verdood from Toronto Police Services, Geoff MacBride from Toronto Emergency Medical Services, Adina Kaufman from Toronto Fire Services, the recipients of this year’s IDI Toronto Public Heroes Awards.
