IDI GTA and Toronto Police Service organized the second of their intercultural friendship iftar dinners at the Scarborough Campus of Nile Academy on Aug 6th, 2013. Dr. Alok Mukherjee, chair of Toronto Services Board, and Peter Sloly, Deputy Chief of Toronto Police Service were among the distinguished guests. Around 200 people attended the dinner celebrating intercultural friendship and recognizing the recipients of the awards.
AUX PC Anthony Hampton from D51, Steve Teekens Aboriginal Chief’s Consultative Committee Co-Chair and Vivian Broersma D23 Community Police Liaison Committee Co-chair were presented with ‘Community Volunteer Awards.’
Also Brandy Hagbord and Calina Ellwand from Passages to Canada Speakers Bureau attended the dinner and offered information about their program run by Historica Dominion Institute.
Juneyt’s fantastic performance of flamenco guitar was the treat of the night.
