Intercultural Dialogue Institute (IDI) Toronto held a media launch for the Public Heroes Awards 2013 hosted by Chief of Toronto Police Bill Blair on January 14th at 1:30pm at the headquarters of Toronto Police Service (40 College St.).
During the media launch, after the opening remarks by MPP Cheri DiNovo, Chief Bill Blair presented the IDI Toronto Public Heroes Recognition to Zack Omar to acknowledge his successful efforts towards positive youth engagement and building community partnerships. Chief of Toronto EMS, Paul Raftis, presented the IDI Toronto Public Heroes recognition to Jacklyn Whey to acknowledge her outstanding achievement with exemplary accomplishments as recent graduate of the Paramedic Program at Fleming College. And finally, deputy chief of Toronto Fire, Mike McCoy, presented the IDI Toronto Public Heroes recognition to Brian Hum to acknowledge his outstanding achievement with exemplary accomplishments as a pre-service fire education & training program student at Centennial College.
Media Launch also marks the kick-off for nominations for Public Heroes Awards 2013. This year the award recipients will also be offered the free intercultural study trip to Turkey for two. The Public Heroes Awards ceremony will be held at Japanese Cultural Centre on May 1st, 2013.
